Transport NSW were looking to introduce an on-demand ferry service to operate in the Sydney Harbour. Transdev were appointed to manage the service, while Lynxx was called upon to set up the backend logistics; we were brought in to design and build the frontend aspects of the project: the customer facing terminals for calling a ferry and the boatmaster’s on-vessel dashboard.
The service launched in trial mode in late 2019, to great response and customer traffic far exceeding projections. Unfortunately COVID interrupted the project’s momentum and the ferries were halted for 2020 and 2021. We are hopeful the FOD service will be reinstated in the coming year.
